Industrial design is nothing more than product design. Its appearance needs to be protected to avoid copying.
It is possible to apply to the INPI (National Institute of Industrial Property) for the registration of a three-dimensional object, such as a bottle, or an ornamental pattern (two-dimensional).

What you need to know
It is quite fast, compared to the wait in patent and trademark processes. INPI takes less than 1 year to grant the product design registration.
No. INPI does not accept drawings that may be offensive to the honor or image of people. Or even purely artistic designs that cannot have an industrial scale. Designs that violate religious beliefs and cults are also prohibited.
For 10 years, from the date of application, renewable for three more successive periods of five years. It is, therefore, 25 years of exclusive rights over the design.
