The process is very fast, unlike trademark registration, for example. The INPI (National Institute of Industrial Property) takes less than a year to register a design.
The registration of a design is following the INPI guidelines and rules, therefore, it does not accept immoral designs or designs that offend the honor or image of people.
Registration is valid for approximately 10 years from the date of application, and may be extended for three more successive periods of five years. In other words, there are 25 years of exclusive rights over its creation.
